ORGANIC FARMING

  • Organic farming is a holistic production management system which promotes and enhances agro-ecosystem health, including biodiversity, biological cycles, and soil biological activities

  • It emphasizes, the use of management practices in preference to the use of non-farm inputs, taking into account that regional conditions require locally adapted systems

  • This is accomplished by using, wherever possible, agronomic, biological, and mechanical methods, as opposed to using synthetic materials, to fulfill any specific function within the system

  • Organic Farming is a must to get good health & wealth, natural quality & nutritious food grains, fruits and green vegetables for hygienic long life

WHY ORGANIC FARMING

  • In the recent Commonwealth Heads of Government Meet (CHOGM) held at Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, all the developed countries were persisted to curtail Co2 emission. At the end of the summit British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that, the developed countries will mobilise $100 billion by 2020 for supporting global climate change action in developing countries. On the other hand, French President Nicolas Sarkozy made a strong bid stating that, the developing countries those who are postponing their responsibilities on controlling the Co2 emission in order to curb Global Warming should be levied an import tax for their export merchandise into developed countries

  • In this juncture, we have left with no other option but to invest in Green Technology to curtail Global Warming rather than bearing the additional export levies which will affect our exports drastically

  • Last October, there was a news banning imports of Basmati rice from an Indian state by the Iranian Government, with reference to the website www.commodityonline.com due to the presence of heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium and lead

  • In this circumstance, if we grow a crop there, the plants will have some constituents of them. As per a notification from Centre of Advanced Studies, Agriculture Department, farmers should not sow any crop in such areas. This is the first occurrence of such an unfortunate incident.
The above can happen anywhere in the globe and any Government can investigate and ban imports of food grains, fruits and green vegetables. If this occurs where will we turn to for sourcing the same?

  • Therefore it would be rather appropriate to start preventive mechanism to the problems on hand and in order to :

ü       Curtail Co2 Emission

ü       Curb Global Warming / Climate Change

ü       Control Water & Air Pollution

ü       Accelerate Soil Enrichment

  • The export of organic food is also growing steadily; our country is targeting to improve its global share by producing and exporting organic food grains in line with the World Trade Organization regime

  • Hence Mithunram Properties Limited, ventures into Organic Farming in Rural areas

  • Predominantly more than 65% of our population is dependent on Agriculture and Farming sector. In order to enhance their standard of living & assure social security, we are planning to cultivate organic cotton, fruits, green vegetables and different kinds of organic crops that contains up to 40% more antioxidants

  • Organic farming primarily evolves good seeds for cropping, which ultimately results in rich harvest and high yield. Its also a device which improves soil ecology.
